Piano concerto

for Egon Bahr

Piano Concerto

to the commemoration of Egon Bahr

The pianist Yuliya Drogalova played in honor of Egon Bahr (Rede des Regierenden Bürgermeisters), who passed away in 2015. Music by Edvard Grieg (1843-1907), a prelude from the suite "Aus Holbergs Zeit" in G major, Op. 40, and Dmitri Shostakovich (1906-1975) Prelude No. 22 were heard at St. Mary's Church in Berlin in G minor, op. 87. While the numerous and well-known companions of Egon Bahr heard this music, the thoughts once more went back to all the encounters with this wonderful man.

Heinrich-Albertz Peace Prize

When Egon Bahr was awarded the Heinrich Albertz Peace Prize, he was allowed to wish music for the award ceremony. Even a passionate pianist, he wanted Edvard Grieg's suite "Aus Holberg's Zeit". On that day, the pianist Yuliya Drogalova played for him. Through this music and an inspiring conversation, both discovered a personal connection.
